By the initiatives of eminent organizations like Bhaktivedanta Book Trust (BBT) and Gita Press Gorakhpur , the Srimad Bhagwad Gita today is available in more than 80 languages.

Whether you are Bengali or Gujarati or Marathi or Tamil you can read and understand Gita in your own mother tongue. Not limited to that Gita today is made available in Russian, Urdu etc attracting readers across the globe.

Gita Press Gorakhpur has also contributed actively to this by translating Gita into Hindi and English, two of the most often spoken languages across India, making it popular in every household.

Here we are not at all discouraging the learning of Sanskrit language. Sanskrit, of course, is the prominent language of our culture and the intention of learning it to have better understanding of our scriptures is no doubt a great idea but it's not mandatory to have a knowledge of Sanskrit to start reading Bhagavad Gita.
