“Your perception creates your reality. You can look at life and see scarcity or abundance. It depends on your mindset.” Joe Vitale

Two women chatting at home…

First: “So, how was your day yesterday with family?”

Second: “Oh, it was a disaster. My husband came from office, quickly ate dinner, didn’t talk at all and straight went for sleep. How about yours?”

First: “It was amazing. My husband came and took me out for a romantic dinner. Then, we took a walk home enjoying the sights of the city. Then he lit up candles around the home and we talked for an hour and slept. It was almost like a fairytale.”

Meanwhile, their husbands…

First: “So, how was your day yesterday with family?”

Second: “It was great. I reached home. Dinner was ready. Quickly ate and slept. Yours?”

First: “It was horrible. I forgot to pay the electricity bill, so had to take her out for dinner. It was so expensive that I left with no money, so had to walk to reach home. Then I realised there is no electricity, so had to light up candles. I was so angry and on top of that, she was continuously jabbering.”

“It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.” Henry David Thoreau

Every individual on this planet perceives the world through a pair of glasses that he/she wears. Thus, the world appears to be red or blue or green or some other colour depending on the colour of the glasses.

This discloses the secret why different people experience the same event in a way that is different and often uncorrelated.

The above story demonstrates this concept in a very simple way by showing how the same event gave a different experience to different people.

What determines how a person perceives other humans, events and ultimately life? What determines a person’s taste, his/her behaviour?

Explore the mystery with the next series of articles and discover the secret about the three chains that pull us towards a particular perception or behaviour, sometimes even against our will.

Bhagavad Gita reveals these three chains are three modes which operate this entire universe.
